A little later than expected, we are very excited to announce that Kotobukiya`s second kit in the `Border Break` series. Yes - the 1/35 Border Break Heavy Guard II has arrived! For those that may not be familiar with the `Border Break` series of kits, we can assure you that when assembled they are a similar size and complexity to a typical 1/100 scale Bandai Master Grade Gundam kit. They also feature the familiar assembly method of snap together coloured plastics, so no glue or paint required. So why not try something a bit different? The Gundam Mad team do not think you will be disappointed!

Well I have to tell you that you are so lucky that these two kits have actually made it onto the site - the Gundam Mad team were so impressed when we frantically prized open the boxes with our sweaty, trembling hands that we wanted to take them home immediately. However, we are made of (slightly) sterner stuff and decided it simply would not be fair to keep them all to ourselves! So with a tear in our eyes we reluctantly reveal the following: 1/48 `Mega Size` RX78 Gundam - Yes you read it correctly - a 1/48 scale Gundam! How big is that you might ask? Well that equates to 37.5cm tall, or nearly 15 inches! Although the level of detail is fairly limited, the sheer size of this kit makes a massively impressive display piece! 1/100 MG Shin Musha Gundam Sengoku no Jin - This limited edition box set features the MG Shin Musha Gundam kit moulded in limited edition high gloss colours and gold effect plating. Also features an illustrated folding screen, bases to hold the weapons and a custom base to create a superb display.
I need to sit down!

We are sure to make the army of `Armored Core` fans happy today as we announce that we are to resume the supply of `Armored Core` model kits. However, this is not just a re-stock of existing kits, but a full on assault with a huge injection of the latest kits which are hot off the Kotobukiya production line. And to top it all off we will continue to bring you the latest releases as they become available.
So if you have just read the above, but don`t know what `Armored Core` is or want to know more, then here`s a brief synopsis: `Armored Core` is a series of console games which started back in 1997 with the release of the original game on the PS1 console. This ground breaking game featured giant mechs which you built up from base components (such as core, head, legs, arms, weapons etc.) which all have a `cost` - this allows the possibility for creating truly customised mechs to suit almost any scenario. However, the limited amount of points to spend on each mech means there was always a compromise to be made between, speed, weapons, armour and power. The mechs that you create then battle against other mechs through a story line, earning upgrades as you go, thus allowing your mech to modified in the manner that you see fit.
`Armored Core 4` is the current release in the series and there have been numerous spin offs along the way, most of which have been released on all versions of the Playstation, XBox 360 and PSP. Finally, the much anticipated `Armored Core 5` is currently in development and scheduled for release sometime in late 2010.
So what does this all mean to the likes of us? Simple - some absolutely stunning model kits which feature superb levels of detail and finishes. Just as in the games you can move parts from one mech to another to build your own custom variants - just keep swapping the parts until you have created your own display masterpiece!
To take a look at current range of Armored Core kits we have featured then please click here. We will have an update when the avalanche of kits arrive later this week which will vastly expand on the range and availability. Problem is that I know this will mean that I will need to add some more of these brilliant kits to my collection and that will be a real hardship.....

Just in case you didn`t know, this year Bandai is celebrating the `30th Anninversary of Gunpla`. Yes, that`s right, that means that Bandai have been producing Gundam Model Kits for thirty years! (Has it really been that long already, it really doesn't feel like it - does it?).
You might be forgiven for thinking that the Bandai executives would celebrate this momentous occasion by opening another bottle of Suntory whiskey... But no, what they did was to produce some exciting re-releases of some of their most popular kits and and release some new ones too!
Today we are focussing on some of the Master Grade kits which have been re-released to mark this momentous occasion. What makes these particular kits so special is that they now come with some additional body (armour) parts, (particularly the legs and arms) moulded in clear plastic. This means you can either build the kit with all it`s original coloured parts, or with the clear parts. Having these clear parts fitted allows you to see the great inner detail of the kit`s underlying chassis.
If you want to take a look at some of these fantastic 30th Anniversary kits with clear armour parts, then please click the logo above or click here to take a look. Bandai - we salute you!!

As promised, we have just received our stock of Kotobukiya`s first 1/35th scale model kit from Border Break - a networked arcade game by SEGA which features up to twenty battling mechs. 1/35 Border Break Cougar Type-I Although these new kits are 1/35 scale, we would say that when finished they are similar size and complexity to a typical 1/100 scale Bandai Master Grade Gundam kit. They also feature the familiar assembly method of snap together coloured plastics, so no glue or paint required. However, we would suggest that you use a .05mm Pigment Marker - this will bring out the finer panel details to good effect. We will be adding to the `Border Break` range of kits as soon as they are available.
